The Sound Of Silence

After a looooooooong long time, here I am. Not to "rock you like a hurricane" like The Scorpions would say, but to make you hear the sound of silence.

Tonight, my girlfriend was listening to some songs from Kings Of Convenience (which is a fantastic group, by the way) and than I told her that their voices reminded me of Simon & Garfunkel. So, I found this song at youtube that is my favorite: The Sound Of Silence

So, listening to it, reading the lyrics, I closed my eyes and tried to figure the scenes that they mention in this song. I don't know about you, but I can see a lonely guy walking in some dark streets in a small town after midnight. The melody is really special and the harmony that they make is very peculliar. Quite relaxing, isn't it?

Read it, listen to it, think about it, enjoy it, and let me know your impressions!
I hope to be back soon.

The Sound Of Silence (Paul Simon)
Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.

In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'Neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of a neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.

And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

"Fools" said I, "You do not know"
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you."
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence

And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon god they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the sign said,
"The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls."
And whisper'd in the sounds of silence.

I want to come home...

Hey everybody!
I still alive...and still out of ideas for the blog...so, my good friend Daniel Pizzo helped me once more (thank you Dan!) and sent this...
With the words, Sir Paul McCartney, with the song (I Want To) Come Home:

"Came so close to the edge of defeat.
But I made my way in the shade, keeping out of the heat.
It was fun shooting out of the stars, looking into the sun,
but it's been too long. Now I wanna come home.
Home. Where's there's nothing but sweet surrender,
to the memories from afar.
Home. To the place where the truth lies waiting,
we remember who we are.
For too long I was out on my own.
Every day I spent trying to prove I could make it alone.
It was fun hanging onto the moon, heading into the sun,
but it's been too long. Now I wanna come home.
Home.
For so long I was out in the cold,
but I taught myself to believe every story I told.
It was fun hanging onto the moon heading into the sun,
but it's been too long. Now I wanna come home.
Yeah, it's been too long, now I want to come home.
Been too long, now I want to come home."

Crossroads

Hey everyone...here I am again...
My inspiration came back last night...so here it is:

Welcome back ! (or just welcome if it is your first time...)

It’s been long since I wrote here last time…but I was just a little busy and out of ideas…I had my final project presentation at the University two weeks ago, and now I’m starting an internship. Does that means that I had no time? NOPE! I had time to write down anything…I just couldn’t have the ideas. I think it is kind of the lack of inspiration that is always over me when I want to write.
It is true. When I really want to write either here at this blog or trying to do some songs, I just can’t find the words.

The words come when I really don’t want to…just like now! It is 23:30 and I have to sleep because today was a long day at work and tomorrow will be another one. But…listening to John Mayer’s new album “Battle Studies” I found out that I should write something about something. So the words came when I was listening to the song "Crossroads" (listen to it).

It is a cover from the Robert Johnson’s song (listen to this one too) that was immortalized by the group Cream (in which Eric Clapton made his fame as a great guitarist) (you should listen it to compare)John Mayer gave it a whole modern wearing for the song that, in my opinion it is pretty cool! The drum beats and the “Jeff Beck-esque” rhythm sound of the guitar fitted really well with the background voices. The solo sounds like Eric Clapton in Cream era…and it has something from BB King in it.

I think John Mayer is a great guitar player but not as boring as guitars “heroes” use to be. It is nice to see the pop side of the blues and it is really nice to see such an “old” song being turning into a modern hit. At least it made me shake my legs!

What about you?

My Way...

Hello, dear ones!

Tonight...after a week full of anxiety and waiting...I won't say anything...I'll let Mr. Frank Sinatra say it for me through Paul Anka's lyrics...
Listen to it...here...Frank Sinatra singing MY WAY...as a recommendation from my friend Daniel Pizzo!

I really can't say anything more after that...just read below...

Peace you all!

My Way, by Frank Sinatra
Composition by: Claude François / Jacques Revaux / Paul Anka

"And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain

I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I've planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway

And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Yes there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that

And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh no, oh no, not me
I did it my way

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, than he has naugth
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows, I took the blows
And did it my way"

The new beggining!

Hey you all!

After posting my last post in my other blog (http://blogs.myspace.com/viniciusnoronha) I realized that no one that is not in Myspace can comment it...so I decided to make this change...

And I declare that...in 13 january 2010, at 23:45, the blog SOUND FEELINGS is born!

I'll try to talk about all my feelings about music and everything that comes to my head!

If you want to read the three first posts that I've wrote, you can see them here.

I hope you do this!

Peace for all of you!
